Bio:

Theifyr was born into Clan Stormcaller 22 years ago, the fourth of five children and youngest son. Theifyr was born of an egg with an unusually mottled silver and blue color and great things were predicted of him. His mother, Dasi, was a prominent Clan herbalist and alchemist. His father, Caex, was a mercenary captain. Members of Clan Stormcaller, along with two other Dragonborn Clans (Thunderstone and Icebite) formed the core of a prestigous mercenary unit called the Blackaxe Company. Many warriors, young and old, from the Clans joined the Blackaxe Company for glory, honor, and the not-inconsiderable wealth that it provided to the Clan. Though other races made up a large part of the two-hundred strong group, the majority were Clan Dragonborn. Caex, Theifyr’s father, lead the heavy infantry portion of the company. Theifyr grew up idolizing his father and the Company and dreamed of joining it when he was older.

Theifyr grew up large, strong, and tough, showing a natural talent for battle, though he showed a distinct lack of discipline. He looked forward to his opportunity to join the Blackaxe Company when he’d reached the age of 17 and was officially considered an adult. When he was 16 and a month away from his birthday, the Blackaxe Company was hired to help garrison a castle to the northwest called Greenbriar Hold. Bloody orc and ogre raids indicated that a major incursion was likely to begin soon. Two other mercenary companies were also hired to help reinforce the area along with Blackaxe Company. The Band of the Red Moon was a relatively new group largely comprised of humans and shifters with a reputation for stubborn ferocity. Calim’s Eagles was a veteran unit which had a long running rivalry (sometimes friendly, sometimes bloody and violent) with the Blackaxe Company.

Seven months passed, with Theifyr awaiting the return of the Company so he could take his place in it. Three months more passed, far beyond the length of the contract, before the Company returned. But of the two hundred warriors of the Company who had gone to Greenbriar Hold, only a dozen returned. They explained that one of the other mercenary groups in the castle had been bribed by the orcs to sabotage the defenses and pass along information. One night the orcs and ogres attacked in overwhelming numbers, slaughtering the defenders as the traitors stood aside. The attack was so quick and bloody that the survivors never had a chance to learn who had betrayed them, only that they had been betrayed. The survivors had joined up with royal forces mobilized to retake the castle and thus restore the honor of the Blackaxe Company, but by that time the traitor mercenaries were long gone.

Theifyr was crushed. His father, who he had considered his hero, had fallen. The mercenary company he’d dreamed of joining was broken and would be years in the reforming, if it ever did. Months passed and it was clear that the disaster had a profound effect on Theifyr. His enthusiasm for battle was greatly diminished and his skill when sparring with others was noticeably lessened. He was finally snapped out of his depression by his mother, who pointed out that his father would be disappointed at his moping. She said that his father would also be disappointed that Theifyr had not taken up his axe in search of the traitors who had betrayed the Blackaxe Company so that he may avenge the slain. There was glory to be found outside of the Company and he was dishonoring his father by sitting around at home letting his considerable skills go to waste.

Theifyr set out the next day. He would test his strength, seek out worthy opponents, and earn the glory and honor he’d dreamed of all while searching for the scraps of information which would send him to take his vengeance on the dishonorable cowards who had killed his father.
